Here you can see the 14k conchas in the buttons of the browband. All end buttons of this headstall have 14k conchas. Headstall also has nose band and throat latch and what I can only call curlie cues coming from the crown to the browband and then to the nose band.
This bridle was one of my entries in the Gathering Of Gear at the Cowboy Poetry Gathering, Elko, NV, January 1998. The headstall is done in the style of the old prison made hitched horsehair bridles. It has browband, nose band and throat latch and a curb strap. The curly-cues coming from the poll to browband and onto the noseband are 8 plait about 1/8" diameter. Hung from the headstall is a half-breed bit by Ricarda Clause of Lakeview, OR.

The reins are Santa Ynez style romal/reins. They are four 8 plait strands which come together at the bit end where 8 strands were braided as a core then another eight over that and finally the remaining 16 strands braided over that. The romal is 16 plait as well. To see these reins in greater detail click here.
